SPRINGTIME BALLET

Live on Facebook, 12:00 pm, Saturday, April 4, 2020

Students in Itty Bitty Ballet, Pre-Ballet 1, 2, and 3, put on your favorite dress or ballet leotard and tutu, grab a stuffed animal, and join us on Facebook live at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Ms Shannon will help your child spring into a world of new life and hope through this very special creative dance. If you can't make it at noon, we will have the video saved on our Facebook page. You will also be able to find the link through our COVID-19 tab on our website. Let your children watch this over and over as they learn to use their imagination, enhance their pretend play, and dance creatively.

RECITAL POSTPONED

It is with heavy hearts and sorrow that we must inform you that our recital set for June 7 is being postponed. We have been in communication with thet Oak Lawn Community High School, and they have cancelled all performances and activities that were scheduled through the remainder of this school year. We will continue to move forward with hope and determination that this uncertainty will be behind us soon, as the show must go on!

All of our students have been working very hard all year, and we are looking forward to the day that they can showcase what they've learned, even in the confines of their bedroom or family room.

We wish we could give you the information and certainty that we are all seeking. We just can't. But we can promise, that we will continue to make your child's dance experience memorable and meaningful. We will provide you with more information as we are able to make decisions pending the outcome of these trying times we are all going through together. The key is, let's stay in this together for the wellbeing of our students, your children. Hopefully later this summer or early fall, we will say, "Hello, Broadway!"

ZOOM CLASSES

For a copy of the ZOOM Class Schedule, click here.

Students in Pre-Ballet/Tap 2 and up have completed one week of interactive, online classes via the platform ZOOM. While this is certainly not the ideal way to teach and learn dance, it is our best alternative during this COVID-19 pandemic. We have had very positive feedback, especially for the emotional support it gives students when they can interact with their teachers and classmates.

The start times of the ZOOM classes are NOT the same as the regular schedule when we were meeting in the studio, so be sure to check the schedule and set your alarm about 30-45 minutes prior to class. Students should do their pre-recorded class warm up. These links are on the COVID-19 tab of our website. Students can login to the ZOOM meeting a little early and chat with their classmates.

The live, interactive ZOOM class is shorter than the regular class for the following reasons:
  1. Every ZOOM class has a pre-recorded warm-up that students should do prior to class.
  2. In the classroom setting, more time is used during floor work when students are doing steps/combinations one at a time.
  3. Stamps and stickers are not being distributed. We are not doing silly dances.
  4. The instructors' homes are not set up as studio space. For example, Ms Shannon is using her daughter's bedroom and the lighting is not good for for laptap streaming once the sun goes down.

Our Pre-Ballet 1 and Itty Bitty Ballet classes are all pre-recorded through Facebook Live or Youtube. The links are in our COVID-19 tab on our website. While we wish we could see and interact with all of our baby students, it will be difficult to keep their attention in a live, interactive setting through a computer or a phone. It is best if parents watch the video and practice with their children. You are welcome to use the videos prepared by all three ballet instructors, Ms Shannon, Ms April, and Ms Jackie. Additionally, we will keep the links to all of the special videos, such as the Ballet Tea Party and the Springtime Ballet, posted on our Facebook page and links availabe through our COVID-19 tab in our website.

Please remember that Itty Bityy Ballet and Pre-level students will be allowed to make up missed classes for each dance style they take once we return to the studio. Upper level students will make up their classes on the weekends after we return to the studio. We will be offering free classes, camps, and or workshops for students who remain in our dance program. These classes will be scheduled once we return to the studio.

Thank you for understanding why and how we are conducting our classes and trying to make your child's dance class the best experience we possibly can.
