Due to COVID-19, Mongan Dance Academy will be adhering to, or exceeding, the State of Illinois phase-in policies. Our foremost concern is the safety of our dancers and families. Therefore, our camps and classes for the Summer Session will be held on ZOOM.com. We will send you the login information prior to the start of the Summer Session.
We will determine where and how classes will be held in the fall as we learn more informatio later in the summer.
Our dance program ...
is a year-round program, September to August. Each week builds upon the prior week, and each session advances with more difficult moves and technique. We have a recital in early June, so we do not accept new students during mid-February through May. If a new student wishes to register after the Fall Session begins, please email us or call at 773-401-6549 for placement.
During the Summer Session, we offer special princess ballet camps, musical theater, workshops, and regular classes. New students are welcome to register based on the age category below
Experienced dancers who wish to transfer to Mongan Dance Academy should email us or call at 773-401-6549 to arrange a meeting and demonstration of abilities for level placement by the Program Director. Students must be enrolled by January 1st in order to participate in the annual recital.
We invite you to create an account with MDA or sign up to receive emails from us so you will always be updated about classes, schedules, events, etc. Of course, if you have any questions, you are welcome to email us any time.
PAYMENTS FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR - Thee dance year is divided into four sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Classes and camps must be paid in full at the time of registration. Payment plans, with a debit/credit card on file, can be requested by contacting us for more information.
ADMINISTRATIVE FEE - A one-time annual administrative fee of $25 per family for the 2019-2020 dance year will be added to each family's account after we receive your child's registration. The fee for the 2020 session has been reduced from $25 to $10.
- SIBLING1 - $6 discount for the second child in the same household for the Summer Session if registered before June 19, 2020.
- SIBLING2 - $9 discount for the third child in the same household for the Summer Session if registered before June 19, 2020.
- CAMP - $6 discount when the same student registers for the same camp for both 3-week sessions during the initial registration.
DANCE ATTIRE - Mongan Dance Academy sells the required shoes, tights, leotards, skirts, and dance bags to students enrolled at MDA. Click here to view MDA's Uniform Requirements. You. may email us to make arrangements for purchases.
Pre-register for both 3-week sessions of a dance camp for the same student by Thursday, June 18, 2020 and receive a special 2020 Summer Zoom discount. All of our classes and camps have already been discounted since we are still using ZOOM.com due to the stay-at-home orders. Eligible camps: Princess Ballet Camp, Upper Level Dance Camp, Musical Theater Dance Camp.
Our Princess Ballet Camps include a short ballet lesson, craft, and magical princess dance. Craft package swill be distributed via curbside pick-up at studio (date TBD). A grown up may need to assist with craft. Students can dress up, but it is not required. Invite cousins and friends near and far to register for an enchanting good time! There will be four surprise fairytale princesses besides two new princesses:
- Princess Poppy from Trolls (Week 1, 2, or 3)
- Princess Anna from Frozen 2 (Week 4, 5, or 6)
Upper Level Dance Camp is for upper level students (levels 1, 2, 3) or ages 9 and over who have some dance experience. Explore dance trends, techniques, and styles that are not consistently offered throughout the year in this invigorating class offered only during this Summer Session. Classes will be taught be a different MDA instructors. Classes will be held online on ZOOM.com
Musical Theater Dance Camp is for students in upper levels (levels 1, 2, 3) or students age 9 and older who have some dance experience. The class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various song and dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a warm-up, stretches, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions. The class will be held online through Zoom.com
