Our Story . . . 

This mother-daughter duo, Ms Linda Kay and Ms Shannon Edwards, once lived in the woods on Mongan Drive in rural Midwest Illlinois where Ms Shannon and her sisters created masterful dances all day long. In 1998, they relocated to Chicago where Ms Shannon continued her dance education and career. Watching her perform professionally and witnessing her teach dance to young students, Ms Linda was inspired to open a dance academy, along with Ms Shannon, so other children can be filled with that same love and passion for artful movement. In 2013, they opened Mongan Dance Academy, offering dance instruction for children ages 2 through high school, emphasizing technique and discipline in ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, tap, and hip hop. They also created their Academy Program, a track for aspiring dancers who want to advance their technique and performance opportunities, and/or to prepare for college entrance or a pre-professional dance career.
